BIBLIOLOGY

We believe the Bible is the "Word of God" (John 10:35; Hebrews 4:12), and is called the "Scriptures" (Matthew 22:29; Acts 17:11; 2 Timothy 3:16). In their original autographs, the Bible's 39 Old Testament books and 27 New Testament books are verbally and plenarily inspired (2 Timothy 3:16), and are inerrant and infallible (2 Peter 1:20-21; 3:16). Although we do not have the original autographs, God has preserved His "Word" (Matthew 5:18; 1 Peter 1:23), so that the Bible we have today is the "Word of God." Man is responsible to accept the "Word of God" as his final and sole authority in faith and life (1 Peter 4:11; 2 Timothy 3:16). Man is responsible to guard over the Word of God (Revelation 22:18-19); and the church is responsible for upholding, protecting, teaching, preaching, and spreading God's Word, (1 Timothy 3:15).

THEOLOGY PROPER

We believe the Bible does not set out to prove "God" exists, but rather presents "His" existence as a statement of fact (Genesis 1:1; John 1:1; Psalm 14:1; Romans 1:19-20). Any definition of God would be incomplete and limited because of the finiteness of man's language and mind. God is spirit (1 Corinthians 2:9-15; John 4:24; Isaiah 40:25). God is a personal being possessing the highest degree of perfection, holiness, intelligence, emotion, and will (Exodus 34:6; Ephesians 1:9-11; 1 John 4:10). There is only one, eternal (Deuteronomy 33:27; Isaiah 57:15), self-existent (Exodus 3:14), and true living God (Jeremiah 10:3-16). God is one in personality, being, and deity (John 17:23-24), who is revealed in three personal distinctions: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19; Revelation 1:4-5). All of God's divine attributes and nature are exempt from change (Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8; James 1:17). God has no limits or boundaries outside of Himself, and he is not limited to the universe nor contained by it (Romans 8:35-39; Job 11:7-8; Acts 17:24-28).

PATEROLOGY

We believe the person of the "Father" is God, possessing the divine nature in common with the other two persons of the Godhead (Isaiah 63:16; Hosea 11:1; Romans 1:7; 1 Corinthians 1:3; Ephesians 4:6; Philippians 2:11). As God the Father, He is the source of all created things (1 Corinthians 8:6); He is the origin of all divine revelation (John 16:15; Revelation 1:1; Hebrews 1:1-2); He is the ruler over all things (Luke 10:21; Matthew 11:25; Acts 17:24-28; Ephesians 1:11); He planned and initiated salvation (John 3:16; Galatians 4:4-5; 1 John 4:10; 1 Peter 1:3); and He alone deserves to receive worship and glory (John 4:23; Revelation 4:10; Philippians 2:11; 4:20). The Father is the "generator" of the Son (John 5:26; 3:16), meaning the Father and Son share in one divine essence with each other, while the Son operates separately communicating the Father's message and fulfilling the Father's plan.

CHRISTOLOGY

We believe the person of "Jesus Christ" is God, who is the second person of the trinity, coequal with and possessing the divine nature in common with the Father and the Holy Spirit (John 14:9; 10:30; 1:1,14; Hebrews 13:8). Jesus Christ is one person possessing two natures thus making Him truly God (Matthew 16:16; 26:61-64; John 1:1), and truly man (John 1:14; Galatians 4:4; Romans 8:3; Philippians 2:5-8). As God He existed from eternity past (Micah 5:2); He was born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14); He lived a sinless life on earth (Hebrews 4:15; 1 John 3:5; 2 Corinthians 5:21); voluntarily died for our sins as our substitute (2 Corinthians 5:21); He was buried and rose bodily from the grave (1 Corinthians 15:3-5); He ascended into heaven bodily to become the church's sovereign Head and the Christian's High Priest (Acts 1:11; Hebrews 8:1; Ephesians 1:20-23); and He will return in the air to "catch-up" (i.e. "rapture") His church before the tribulation (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17); and He will return a second time bodily to the earth to destroy His enemies and rule the world for a thousand years (Revelation 19:7-16; 20:6).

PNEUMATOLOGY

We believe the person of the "Holy Spirit" is God, who is the third person of the Trinity, coequal with and possessing the divine nature in common with the Father and the Son, (2 Corinthians 13:14; Acts 5:3-4; John 16:7-8, 13-14; 15:26; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19; Matthew 3:16-17). The Holy Spirit is an actual entity and not just a force or concept of righteousness because personal pronouns (i.e. "he" "his") are used describing Him and because the Holy Spirit was sent to indwell believers, (John 14:16-18; 16:7-11). The Holy Spirit was active in creation (Psalm 104:30; Genesis 1:1-3); He is the agent of revelation (2 Peter 1:21; John 14:26); He convicts men (John 16:8-11); He regenerates men (Titus 3:5; John 3:3-7; 2 Corinthians 5:17); He indwells men (1 Corinthians 12:13; John 14:17; Acts 11:15; 10:44-46); He seals regenerated men (2 Corinthians 1:22; Ephesians 1:13; 4:30); He gives gifts of service to regenerated men (1 Corinthians 12:11); He restrains sin (2 Thessalonians 2:6-7); He fills regenerated men (Ephesians 5:18; 2:22; 3:5; 6:18; Acts 2:4); He provides access to the Father, (Eph. 2:18); He was responsible for the conception of Christ, the Son of God (Luke 1:35); He anointed Christ (Luke 4:18); He empowered Christ (Matthew 12:28); and He ministered to Christ at His death and resurrection (Hebrews 9:14).

ANGELS

We believe "angels" are created invisible personal spirit beings (Colossians 1:16; Hebrews 1:7,14) and thus, angels are not human beings, humans do not become angels, and angels do not become Gods. They did not exist eternally, but are now deathless (Luke 20:35-36). They are innumerable (Hebrews 12:22; Daniel 7:10; Revelation 5:11) and they are classified in various ranks and orders (1 Peter 3:22; Colossians 1:16). They were created to minister to God (Daniel 7:10; Psalms 148:2); and to the heirs of salvation (Hebrews 1:14). Lucifer, also known as the Devil, Satan and the evil one, was created as one of the greatest of all the angels until he sinned of his own choice (Ezekiel 28:11-19; Isaiah 14:12-15) and lead other angels with him who are referred to as demons, (Revelation 12:4). Satan and his angels are forever confirmed in their sinful state (1 John 3:8; 2 Peter 2:4-5; Matthew 25:41). Satan and his evil angels oppose God and His saints (Zechariah 3:1; Daniel 10:10-14; Ephesians 6:11-12; 1 Thessalonians 2:18; 1 Peter 5:8) and await judgment, (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10). The other angels who did not follow after Satan, who are called good angels, minister and worship God (Hebrews 1:6,11-19; Revelation 4:11-12); they witness the church's ministry (1 Timothy 5:21; 1 Corinthians 4:9); and they guide and guard the saints (Daniel 12:1; 10:21; Acts 8:26; 10:13).

ANTHROPOLOGY

We believe man, noted as male and female, is a personal being who was created from the dust of the ground and in the image of God (Genesis 2:7; 1:26-27). God created all things, including man, in six literal 24 hour days (Genesis 1:1-31). God created man with both material parts (i.e.body) and immaterial parts (i.e. soul, spirit, heart, conscience) (1 Corinthians 2:11; Matthew 22:37; Hebrews 4:12). God created a difference between man and woman (Genesis 1:27; 2:7); and between mankind and the animal kingdom (1 Corinthians 15:39). Man was created for fellowship with God and to have dominion over the earth (Genesis 2:5,15). The first man, Adam, sinned by choice (Genesis 3:6); and consequently, his descendants bore the curse and are depraved in nature (Genesis 6:5; Ephesians 2:1-5; Romans 8:7). Because the first woman sinned by being deceived (1 Timothy 2:14) the role of leadership has been given to the male (1 Timothy 2:11-14; 3:1-12; 1 Corinthians 14:34-35; 11:3-16). Man's ultimate end, apart from Christ, is eternal punishment and separation from God (Matthew 25:41; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:12-15). Not all men will be saved, only those who call upon Jesus Christ for salvation will be saved (John 3:16-22).

HAMARTIOLOGY


We believe sin is any lack of conformity to the character of God (1 Peter 1:14-16). It can further be described as a transgression of any law of God that He has given to man as a responsibility (1 John 3:4; Galatians 3:10-12; James 2:8-12; Romans 7:7-13); missing a mark (Romans 3:23); rebellion (Isaiah 1:2); unbelief (1 John 5:10); disobedience (Ephesians 2:2); iniquity (Galatians 5:19-21); and what so ever is not of faith (Romans 14:23). Man is able to make personal choices and thus is responsible for his actions before God (Romans 3:23; Matthew 27:4; Luke 15:18-21). Sin entered the world through the angelic realm with Satan's rebellion (Ezekiel 28; Isaiah 14); and entered the human race through Adam's disobedience (Genesis 3:1-19; 1 Timothy 2:14; Romans 5:19). All men are born sinners and become sinners by choice (Romans 5:12). Man's only remedy for sin is Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12).

SOTERIOLOGY

We believe salvation is a work of God (Psalm 3:8; Acts 4:12; Ephesians 2:8-10); whereby He delivers undeserving sinners from the penalty of sin (Romans 6:23), from the power of sin (Romans 6:14; 1 Corinthians 5:17), and from the presence of sin (Romans 8:23); thus bestowing upon them the riches of His grace (Romans 6:23; John 3:18; 14:2-3; 1:12; 2 Peter 1:4; 1 John 3:2). Salvation was accomplished by Christ's substitutionary death on the cross which paid the ransom price to the Father, and satisfied all His righteous demands, thus declaring him righteous (1 Corinthians 1:30; Acts 20:28; 2 Peter 3:1; Galatians 3:13; Titus 3:14). Christ's provision of salvation is sufficient for all the world and offered that way (John 3:16; 2 Peter 2:1), however, salvation is only efficient for those that believe on Christ (1 Timothy 4:10; 1 John 2:2). Once a sinner is saved he is eternally secure in Christ (John 10:28-29; Romans 8:1; 2 Timothy 1:12; 1 Peter 1:5; 1 John 5:10-13). Salvation rests upon the principle of God's grace, not man's works, as the method of God's dealing with sinful man (Ephesians 2:8-10; Romans 11:5-6; John 6:44, 60-69; 1 John 1:9; 2 Timothy 1:9; Ephesians 1:4-6; James 1:18). Salvation is received by expressing faith, based on the facts of the Gospel, and trust in Christ's finished work (Acts 16:30; Romans 12:3; 10:9-10; John 5:24; Romans 10:13; John 3:16-20; 1 John 5:11-12).

ECCLESIOLOGY

We believe the church is the household of God (Ephesians 2:19) and the body of Christ (Romans 12:5; 1 Corinthians 12:27). The "church" was a mystery in the Old Testament which means it was not known unto Israel (Romans 11:25; Ephesians 5:32). Thus, the church is not the same as Israel nor is the church the New Testament expression of the Israel of the Old Testament. The church is a new entity based on the Holy Spirit's indwelling ministry whom Jesus started after He ascended into heaven at the day of Pentecost, (Acts 2:1-4) and based on the fact of the new covenant of His blood, (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). The church is not a building, not a business, not a social club, and not an entertainment center. The word "church" means "a called-out assembly." The church is a spiritual organism composed of regenerated believers who have been immersed by baptism, of whom Christ is the head (Ephesians 4:16; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13). The church is the church no matter where it meets whether in a building or a house (Acts 1:13-14; 2:46; Acts 8:3; 16:15; 17:4-7; 20:20; Romans 16:3-5; 16:23; 1 Corinthians 16:19; Colossians 4:15; Philemon 1,2; 2 John 10). The church is gathered for the Lord's business of exhorting, edifying, ministering, evangelizing, and worshipping (Acts 7:8, 38; 19:39; Colossians 1:18; 1 Corinthians 1:2; Hebrews 10:25). The church has two ordinances: baptism by immersion, and the Lord's supper; neither of which saves or imparts grace from God. The church has two offices: the pastor (same as bishop, elder, and pastor) and deacons (which are not bishops, elders, or pastors). The church is God's chosen channel of ministry for today (1 Timothy 3:15). The church is independent of outside authority or control, is self-governing, and should be separated from worldliness and sin (2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1; 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10; 2 John 9-11). The church should be actively anticipating Christ's coming in the air to catch us up to Himself at any moment (1 Thessalonians 4:10-18; 2 Peter 3:12-14).


ESCHATOLOGY

We believe this present age will end with the Rapture, where the church will be caught-up in the air with Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:10-18). After the Rapture, the world will endure the Tribulation for seven years, where God will take out His wrath upon the Gentiles and purify a remnant of Jews for Himself (Revelation 11:1-3; 3:10; Zechariah 12-14; Daniel 9:17). The Tribulation will end with Christ's Second Coming, where Christ will destroy His enemies, bind Satan, and resurrect the Old Testament saints (Matthew 24-25; Revelation 20:4; Daniel 12:12). After this Christ will gather His remnant unto Himself and establish His Millennial Kingdom, where Christ will reign for 1,000 years fulfilling the Abrahamic and Davidic covenants (Ezekiel 20; Revelation 20:2-7; Isaiah 11:2-5; 2:3). At the end of the Millennial Kingdom the Great White Throne Judgment will take place, where all the unsaved will be resurrected and the final sentence of judgment will be experienced (Revelation 20:11-15). The earth and heaven will be renovated by fire thus establishing a new heaven and new earth (Revelation 21-22). Then eternity will begin (Revelation 21:4).
